First year out of college and working an entry level job, I looked for a cheap but decently made rice cooker for my tiny city apartment kitchen counter. I decided on the Oster 6-Cup Rice Cooker, which worked as both a rice cooker and steamer for other recipes.
If you grew up with a nice family sized Japanese branded rice cooker, then this machine probably won’t cut it. But if you are on a tight budget and craving a bowl of rice, then it works. The steamer feature is also easy to use and comes in handy for steaming dumplings, buns, for one person so it’s a 2 for 1 deal.
